Because I Could Not Stop for Death

           1. The three things the speaker passes while she was in the carriage are a school where children play, fields of grains, and the setting sun.

           2. The house in which the speaker paused at looks like as it was coming out of the ground. They could barely see the roof, and there were no walls attached to the house.

           3. The house is probably best described as unkept and abandoned. In the fourth stanza, it states that "the roof was scarcely visible," which I interpreted to mean that the roof was barely stable

Sonnet 73

 1. The three things that speaker says that you can see in him or her are the twilight of such day, glowing of such fire, and his ashes of his youth doth lie/old age.

 2. The last two lines of the poem are "This thou perceiv'st, which makes thy love strong. To love that well, which thou must leave ere long." This means to me that you have to recognize those things to strengthen his love with knowledge that he soon will be left alone because the speaker's fire will be gone.

 3. If I were to insert line breaks into this poem, I would insert them under every fourth line of the sonnet. So then the poem would now appear:

"That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, do hang
Upon those boughs which stake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.

In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death’s second self, that seals up all in rest.

In me thou see’st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish’d by.

This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long. "

I would divide the poem like this because each stanza is built upon each other, and when moved to the next stanza it kind of moves to a next description. It helps me to understand the poem to better sense than if it were just all one "stanza." The last stanza wraps up the whole poem, kind of like a summary of a story.

Ozymandias Poem

         1.  As the poem as a whole, the phrase "the heart that fed" refers to Ozymandias himself. I came to this conclusion because Ozymandias was the king I take it that Ozymandias was the hand that mocked them, but also the heart that fed.

        2. On how I perceived this poem, the message the poet is trying to express with this poem is that Ozymandias was a bad king. I came to this conclusion because the traveler found Ozymandias sculpture in the desert, and his legs were missing. The way the author described the sculpture was not too nice, so my precision is that the traveler was not a fan.

       3. Ozymandias would be described as a selfish person with a cold heart. I can tell that he wasn't a fan favorite as he reigned as king.

Social Media Affecting Schools?

1.   I agree 100% that social media should be taken into account when enrolling into a college or trade school. A lot can be determined about a person's personality, or character, through their social media posts. Someone can act greatly in person and leave a great impression, but once you take a look at their social media all your perspective on that one person changes. Students do not realize that recruiters and bosses look at your social media. They want to make sure that the person they are enrolling or hiring sets off a good image, and to do so they look on your social media. You may think that one negative post can't hurt anything but when it comes to enrolling in college or being hired for a job it does.

2. To an extent, I do agree with the observation that people are more worried about being a character, than having character. Everyone in high school wants to be "popular", and to some, in order to be popular, you have to do things out of the ordinary to get yourself noticed by other people. Now, I am not saying that all things that kids do to get noticed are negative, but most of the time their actions put a bad reputation on them.

3. South Haven High School appears not to have many rules for the use of social media. Other than the fact that you shouldn't be on it during school hours unless told otherwise by a supervisor. , and that's why most of the social media is blocked in the school's wifi. If the use of social media becomes an issue with students, students involved will be disciplined. I believe these rules teach us that being on social media is not permitted in workplaces unless told otherwise. It teaches us, kids, that you can get in trouble for what you have posted on social media, and that you will face the consequences of your actions. This prepares students to think through what they post on social media sights. It makes them think about possible consequences that can occur if they post something negative or
inappropriate.

Loveliest of Trees

1. The speaker views the cherry tree during the months of winter.

2. The speaker decides to the woodland to see the cherry tree covered in snow because his years are now limited. The speaker hints that "twenty will not come again," and, "that only leaves me fifty more."

3. The speaker can best be described as adventurous due to the fact that he tends to visit the cherry tree often. The speaker enjoys going out in nature and viewing the beauty it beholds. He likes to watch things in bloom. "And since to look at things in bloom, fifty springs are little room."

Control on Life

I have control over many things in my life. I have control over what I wear, who I hang out with and my grades. I have control over what I say and all of my actions. I control the amount of money I have in my bank account and have control over the things I can buy. I especially have control over what my horses do, where they go, and who rides them. I control what they get fed, because if not they would be fed wrong.

One year from now, I will have control of much more. I will have control over a car, paying for gas, and possibly where I work. I'll have control over where I go, and who I go with. I am in control of my future, and no one can change my mind about it.

Favorite Childhood Book

I bet you've all heard of the book Charlotte's Web, and if you haven't then you missed out on your childhood. Charlotte's Web was my all time favorite book as a child. I've read it over, and over again because it was so interesting to me.

Charlotte's Web is about a pig named Wilbur, and a spider named Charlotte. This story is about Wilbur and Charlotte's friendship. Wilbur was born the runt of the litter, and we all know what people do to runts, they kill them. That's what the farmer wanted to do, until his daughter decided to take Wilbur under her wing and persuade him to kill Wilbur.

One day, Wilbur spotted Charlotte in the corner of the barn, and they started talking. Soon, they became best friends and were inseparable. Charlotte uses her skills of making webs to save Wilbur's life. They become world famous.

I think I was so drawn to that book because it gave me a meaning of friendship. I'm also a animal lover and I found it fascinating that a pig and spider could get along. Looking deeper into the story, it kinda tells us that no matter how you are built, you can manage to be friends with anyone and everyone if you are kind. To this day, I still look at Charlotte's Web as a meaning of friendship. It shows me that true friends don't let their friends go through things alone. That they are in it together because that's what friends do.

The Almighty Dollar

My relationship with money is nonexistent. Spending money is not a problem for me, but finding the money to spend is the hard part. I used to be really good at saving my money, any money that I found went in a secret hiding place. Now I can barely save money for one day. I see something, I want it, I buy it.

Growing up, I was very spoiled I won't even lie about that. I usually got everything I wanted for either Christmas or my birthday, so getting stuff I want was no a problem for me. However, growing up the things I wanted got more expensive every year. Money was tight with my grandma, and she could not really afford what I wanted, but she tried to the best of her abilities to try and make it work with her financial situation.

Now I realize the importance of saving money because nothing is free, and everything is expensive. I have no way of making my own money at this moment, but I am looking for ways. As of right now, my grandma gives me $100.00 a month but I usually spend it before I even get it. I am an impulsive buyer, and it really has gotten bad. Owning horses does not save any money what soever. That is were most of my money, well my grandmas money, ends up. I really need to learn budgeting skills because if I keep living like this, I will be in debt for the rest of my life.

Now a days, if you don't have any money you can't really get anywhere. Now is the time where I am looking for a car, and having the budget I do with the car I want does not work. You learn to settle for what you have and work for what you want. Thinking about it, I would be lucky to get any set of wheels because some people can't even get some, so I need to learn how not to be so picky because being picky is where my bank account goes dry. Money is hard to make, but very easy to spend.

Christmas Vanished

December 25th is a day that everyone knows of, it's Christmas. A day where everyone opens gifts with family and decorate their houses with decorations such as reindeer and Santa Claus. The house usually contains a Christmas tree decorated in ornaments and tassels. What would happen if that were all to vanish? No more Christmas. No more ornaments or nativity scenes. No more presents or "holly." What would people do then?

We would just have to create our own holiday. This holiday would be a celebration of life, it would be on December 26th, like one big birthday party for everyone. People would decorate their houses with balloons and bright colors. Every town would have a big bonfire where everyone brings a dish to pass, and a band is playing. However, there are no gifts. Just bonding time with friends, family and local people.

The traditions of this season are local parades, and festivities. Everyone has a good time, and there is no drama during this time. People celebrate by writing what they are thankful for about their life and tying it to a balloon and releasing it into the air at midnight. Basically like a bonfire with friends, a time to let loose and be happy.

Save the World

As a kid, I was always asked "If you could change the world, what would you change and why?" Being a kid I of course answered with my imagination instead of intelligence of what was going on in the world.

Now you ask me that same question, and I can't help but ponder that question. It's not that easy of a question to answer. I can't just blurt out the first thing that comes to my mind, because now I know what is going on in the world now, and boy is there many thinks I would like to change. I can sit and state what I want to change but it won't change anything, so why waste my breath. However, this question is just a little different, "List three things that you would do to help IMPROVE the world. Why do you think these changes will help?" Improving the world is different than changing the world, so this question is a little bit easier to answer.

Three things I would do to help improve the world would include being kind, and spreading kindness instead of hate. The second thing I'd do is stop the oil fracking and switch to nuclear energy instead. The third thing I would do is try and help the hungry people who can't afford to provide food for their families.

Being kind is one thing that the world has decreased significantly on over the years. The world is so full of hate, that no one really knows how to be kind anymore. I would help improve the world by spreading my kindness, and hopefully others would spread their's to. It may not help a lot, but there is no harm in trying that. I think everyone sharing their kindness, we would have a much more caring environment. We'd have less fights, less breaking news about someone murdering someone or another "police brutality" incident.

Stopping the oil fracking and switching to nuclear energy would help improve the lives of animals that live in the waters. Since we keep having oil spills, there have been many deaths of animals who depend on water to live. Keeping the water clean could also lead to more people  enjoying to go see the lake or the ocean. Stopping the oil spills would save many animal's lives.

World hunger is something that has not gone away. I feel if the people who can afford fancy dinners, and fancy houses, they should help the people who can't even afford an apple. Trying to end world hunger is nearly impossible but if everyone pitched in to sending less fortunate care packages if feel their would be less deaths due to starving. I feel that it would help because you need to have food to keep up with your energy, and people who do not eat not only suffer from starving but also from depression, in my opinion.
